We work with organizations from small, local businesses to medium-sized companies with national or international scope, and across all industry sectors.  These organizations are realizing that all businesses can, and increasingly in today’s business environment, must obtain the symbiotic benefits that come from combining strong environmental and resource responsibility with pragmatic business strategy.  SymbioSus™ works with clients across this range to help them succeed in doing so.

Here are some examples of current or recent clients:

Mills Industries, Inc., Laconia, NH:  SymbioSus performed an environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for this manufacturer of durable, lightweight corrugated plastic shipping and storage containers, of its main product.  This assessment, done in accordance with the ISO 14040 and 14044 standards for LCA studies, helped the company to understand the product’s environmental impact, identify opportunities to reduce energy and resource use, waste (and the associated costs), and reduce the environmental impact of the product, as well as to compare the environmental impact of this product to that of similar products of alternative materials and processes.

Mills Industries has also recently engaged SymbioSus for an additional project, to help develop and implement an Environmental Management System (EMS), a comprehensive continuous-improvement sustainability & environmental plan.  We will be developing and implementing this EMS in accordance with the ISO 14001 standards, which are the gold-standard guidelines for best-in-class EMS processes.

Young's Restaurant and Coffee Shop, Durham, NH:  SymbioSus has been engaged by this community restaurant to help them increase the communication and promotion of the many significant sustainability actions they have implemented in recent years, including purchasing green energy, many significant energy efficiency measures, waste reduction and recycling actions, and a strong local focus, with roughly 40% of their food products sourced locally.

Reflection Films – Arlington, MA:  SymbioSus provided basic sustainability training, a basic sustainability SWOT analysis, and initial sustainability recommendations for this video production company.

MetroWest Chamber of Commerce – Framingham, MA:  SymbioSus helped this organization to make its inaugural “Taste of MetroWest” event a more green, sustainable, and low-waste event, helping to divert over 60% of the event's waste from landfill via recycling and composting, and helping to offset 100% of the emissions from the event and the transportation of vendors and attendees to the event.

Friends of Forgotten Children – Concord, NH:  SymbioSus performed a sustainability opportunity assessment, to help this organization to identify low-cost and no-cost opportunities to reduce operating costs through reduced resource and energy use, as well as efficiency improvements.

For those companies considering if working with SymbioSus on your sustainability goals would be right for you:

If you are a small to mid-sized business that:

  • Wants to profitably increase your environmental sustainability but doesn’t have the internal resources or specific expertise, and wants to either engage an external partner or develop that internal expertise;

or

  • Has the internal resources to move forward with sustainability and has had some successes, but wants to further leverage those resources and successes;

or

  • Has taken some steps along the sustainability pathway, but wants to know the optimal way to go to the next level;

or

  • Is new to business environmental sustainability and wants to know the best way to get started;

or

  • Is aware that many large customers and value chain partners – and possibly regulatory bodies soon – are requiring greater sustainability and resource efficiency from their small and mid-sized partners, and wants to know how to navigate that environment;

or

  • Wants to better understand the business case for sustainability and why experts are saying that sustainability is no longer something you can’t afford to do, but rather that it is something you can’t afford not to do;

Then you may benefit greatly from working with SymbioSus on your specific needs.
